About the Author
The name of the author is Jerry Jeffery Spinelli. He was born in Norristown, Pennsylvania in the United States on February 1, 1941. Spinelli has also written Love,Stargirl, Eggs, Smiles to Go, Stargirl, and The Library Card. He started writing at 16 and wrote mostly short stories and poems. The first thing ever published was a poem about football. He attended Gettysburg College and majored English. He has won a Newbery Medal for Maniac Magee and a Newbery Honor Award for Wringer. He wrote Milkweed to inform readers about the Holocaust, and to persuade readers not to do bad things.
